Facebook Campus Platform Will Be Shutting Down

It’s a bit ironic when you consider how Facebook initially began as a manner for school/college college students to attach with one another earlier than it grew to become a social media platform for all. Even extra so when after the very fact, Facebook determined to create a “Campus” function that basically introduced them again to their roots.

Now it appears to be like just like the Campus function will probably be no extra. Facebook has informed customers in an in-app message that they are going to be shutting the Campus function down and that each one profiles, teams, posts, and different associated information will probably be deleted. Users who want to protect their information will probably be in a position to take action by downloading it earlier than the tenth of March.

According to the message that was despatched to customers, “Since we launched the Campus pilot, it’s been our mission to help bring college communities closer together. But we’ve learned that the best way to support students is through Facebook Groups.”

A Facebook spokesperson informed TechCrunch, “We’ve decided to end our pilot of Facebook Campus. We learned a lot about the best ways to support college students, and one of the most effective tools to help bring them together is Facebook Groups. We’ve notified students in the test schools that Campus will no longer be available, and have suggested relevant college Facebook groups for them to join.”
