More than one thousand of a few of Kenya’s most endangered animals have died this 12 months due to a devastating drought gripping the area.
A report launched Friday from Kenya’s Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage takes inventory of how the drought in East Africa is affecting a few of Africa’s most iconic wildlife. In all, the report finds, the drought has led to the deaths of greater than 500 wildebeest, greater than 400 zebra, and greater than 200 elephants between February and October of this 12 months. Photos present a number of the animal victims of this excessive climate (warning: a number of the photographs could also be disturbing).
