Crypto fans purchased the Wu-Tang album, presumably a haunted talisman whose earlier proprietor Pharma Bro went to jail shortly after he introduced that he’d purchased it in a $2 million troll. Can these dudes deal with it? The New York Times and Rolling Stone have profiles. They appear positive.

One copy of the two-disc, 31-track album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin was pressed and encased in a baroque bejeweled field, and offered with an connected situation that it couldn’t be commercially launched on the market till 2103. In 2015, Pharma Bro Martin Shkreli purchased it in a web-based public sale and misplaced it when the Department of Justice seized his property in 2018. The album was bought anonymously in July. The consumers, a bunch referred to as PleasrDAO, revealed themselves because the consumers at the moment.

Whether it issues or to not collectors, it may not be a certified Wu-Tang album. Bloomberg reported after the Shkreli sale that it was a bunch of verses compiled by producer Cilvaringz, who’d misled contributors into believing they had been making his album, and solely RZA appeared onboard and conscious.

Wu-Tang Clan members say it was just okay or it could get fucked.

PleasrDAO, a 74-member group of collectors and artists, declare to have an interest within the album for causes past a return on funding. In their phrases, they’ve “built a formidable yet benevolent reputation for acquiring culturally significant pieces with a charitable twist.” (A DAO, a decentralized autonomous group, is a cryptocurrency funding fund owned by nobody. Members buy-in in trade for tokens which give them voting energy in making funding choices; voting energy will increase with the investments.) Their intentions appear pure-ish. They informed the New York Times that they plan to play it at in-person occasions and envision maybe someway providing the general public collective possession.

They naturally minted an NFT deed of possession and made a bunch of tie-ins to the blockchain which would possibly work for those who hammer it onerous sufficient—the DAO’s Chief Pleasing Officer squeezed in some blockchain tie-ins, describing it to the Times because the “OG NFT” and Wu-Tang because the “the OG DAO” and so on and so on and so on and so forth. They’re not threatening to cover it in a dormant volcano or destroy it. That’s good.
