Messaging platform WhatsApp has submitted its report back to the IT ministry on the service outage that occurred on Tuesday, in keeping with authorities sources.
The ministry had requested the Meta-owned messaging platform to share causes for the service disruption.
WhatsApp companies snag on Tuesday had left customers complaining about not with the ability to ship or obtain textual content and video messages, and companies had resumed after practically two hours.
The sources stated that WhatsApp has submitted its report on the service outage. Details concerning the submissions couldn’t be instantly ascertained. An e-mail despatched to WhatsApp on the problem didn’t elicit a response.
In a late evening assertion on Tuesday, WhatsApp stated a “technical error” precipitated the outage.
“The brief outage was a result of a technical error on our part and has now been resolved,” a Meta firm spokesperson had stated.
According to Downdetector, which tracks outage experiences, the messaging app was not working for a lot of customers throughout a number of areas on Tuesday afternoon. At one level throughout the outage on Tuesday, over 29,000 experiences had been flagged by customers on Downdetector.
Downdetector’s heatmap had confirmed that WhatsApp customers in main cities, together with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata, had been impacted by the snag.
It was reported on Wednesday that the Ministry of Information Technology has sought an in depth report from social media big WhatsApp. Union Minister for Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw additionally confirmed this to ANI, saying, “We have lakhs of WhatsApp users across the country and we asked for a detailed report from the company about the outage.”
Sources conscious of the event instructed ANI that Meta, the mother or father firm of WhatsApp, has been given per week’s time to submit its report back to the Indian authorities.
