The Uttar Pradesh authorities has signed an MoU with e-commerce website Flipkart to carry state’s handicraft merchandise on the platform, an official launch mentioned on Wednesday.
There are 40 crore clients on Flipkart and the goal of the state authorities is to provide an unlimited market to handicraft merchandise of the state by means of Flipkart, the discharge mentioned, including that the MoU was signed on August 7.
Along with handicrafts and handloom merchandise, merchandise made by Divyangjans of the nation may even be obtainable.
On the initiative of the federal government, Flipkart can be coaching craftsmen for this, the discharge mentioned.
The authorities is offering amenities and loans to handicraftsmen and weavers and taking their merchandise to the market of the nation.
The state authorities can be organising camps to provide subsidies on loans to weavers. The authorities is offering a subsidy of as much as 20 % on loans and as much as seven per cent on curiosity as per guidelines.
With this initiative of the federal government, the weavers have been free of the clutches of moneylenders, the discharge added.
Back in April, Flipkart introduced that it signed a MoU with the West Bengal authorities to coach and help native artisans, weavers and handicraft makers to leverage its e-commerce platform to scale up their companies nationally. The settlement was signed with the state’s micro, small and medium enterprises and textiles division.
At the time, Flipkart Group Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Rajneesh Kumar had acknowledged the transfer could be instrumental in driving the financial progress of weavers, artisans, and small companies with the e-commerce firm’s nationwide market entry.
“As a homegrown firm, we’re keen about our sellers’ progress, constructing an inclusive e-commerce ecosystem and always innovate to search out new methods to uplift and empower all sections of society, particularly MSMEs,” he added.
