Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Could Be Canonizing Another Enterprise

With the third and remaining season of Star Trek: Picard reuniting a lot of the bridge crew of the Enterprise-D, it is sensible that the long-lasting flagship of Starfleet will make a return, too. But which one? Well, it might be one we all know already.

At San Diego Comic-Con this previous weekend, Sir Patrick Stewart himself prompted a little bit of a fluster when he revealed to audiences that Picard’s final season would return to “the original Enterprise,” main followers to marvel if the actor meant, one way or the other—resulting from time journey shenanigans, presumably, though I assume we’re leaving that to Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds—a return to the unique ship, or on the very least the return of The Next Generation’s iconic Enterprise-D.

However, a brand new possibility has emerged: different starships Enterprise are certainly out there. Seeking to close down the fandom hysteria, Picard showrunner Terry Matalas took to Twitter yesterday night to say that Stewart’s feedback weren’t what followers assumed—earlier than dropping a not so delicate tease of his personal:

The newest Enterprise we noticed onscreen in Trek continuity was the Sovereign Class Enterprise-E, launched through the Next Generation motion pictures. So it seems to be like by the point of Picard, we’ll be shifting on to the Enterprise-F—and for sure Trek followers, which means the canonization of a ship that’s already been round for fairly some time.

In Star Trek Online—which set its personal interpretation of the early 2410s, though parts of its world have slowly made their manner into prime Trek continuity—the Enterprise-F is an Odyssey class starship, a design created for the net MMORPG, the place it’s captained by an Andorian named Va’Kel Shon. In STO, the F launched in 2409, so whereas Picard season two is about roughly eight years earlier, there would possibly should be some futzing to deliver the ship as-is into official Star Trek canon, it wouldn’t be tough. Plus, it’s not like there isn’t priority, both: the opening episode of Picard season two introduced with it the first official canon debut of a number of Star Trek Online unique ship designs as Federation vessels. Why not deliver the Enterprise-F over too?

We’ll discover out extra when Picard returns for its remaining season in 2023.
