Roku customers can now play songs and movies from Apple Music on their TVs, streaming gamers, or Roku soundbars. Roku announced on Monday that the “app will be available to download later today.”

It’s taken some time for Apple’s music service to make it to one of the well-liked good TV platforms. It was ported to Amazon’s Fire TV in 2019 and has since made it to no less than one sport console: the PS5 (although it doesn’t appear to be supported on Xbox or Switch). In my opinion, although, streaming music companies make loads of sense on TVs. If somebody has a pleasant set of audio system, odds are they’re related to the TV, and having album artwork displayed on such a big display is a deal with for many of us who often solely see it in thumbnail kind.

Unfortunately, Apple Music on Roku received’t help options like lossless or spatial audio “at this time,” Roku spokesperson Sophia Economou advised The Verge in an electronic mail. While Apple doesn’t maintain these options locked to its personal platforms (they’re out there on the Android Apple Music app), they don’t appear to be quite common on platforms meant to be hooked as much as TVs. (I couldn’t discover any point out of them within the PS5 model of the Apple Music app.) Of course, they’re supported on the Apple TV 4K, although that field does have certain limits relating to the highest-resolution lossless recordsdata.

On one hand, it is smart, given the wide range of {hardware} that Roku apps can run on and the truth that each options would seemingly be wasted on TV audio system. But, then again, it may positively be a bummer for anybody who has a sound system hooked as much as their Roku gadget.
