The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor have been such large hits for Netflix that it’s solely pure that followers would anticipate one other installment. And whereas in-demand creator and director Mike Flanagan has been conserving busy (his newest Netflix horror sequence, Midnight Mass, drops subsequent week), he has gone on the file as saying one other Haunting present isn’t on the high of his precedence checklist. At the second, he’s acquired different initiatives to fill his time slightly than one other ghostly adaptation drawn from traditional literature—however he’s apparently not ruling it out for all eternity.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Flanagan elaborated on his reluctance to return to the breakout sequence, whereas emphasizing that Midnight Mass—which does share a number of forged members with Hill House and Bly Manor—isn’t going to have a shock hyperlink to the Haunting world. “One of the things that defines the Haunting anthology for me is that both of them so far are about updating and riffing on existing classic literature,” he mentioned. “Midnight Mass was always so original and important and personal, it just never felt like it was ever going to be a part of that universe … If the stars align in such a way that we decide to go back into the Hauntingworld, it would have to be so much on that track that we’ve set up. It would have to be with the right piece of IP, it would have to be with the right ghost-centric story, and it would have to really fit with Bly and Hill House.”

As followers of ghost-centric tales, and of Flanagan’s strategy to updating and increasing them, we instantly began pondering what adaptation we want to see subsequent. He’s tackled Shirley Jackson with The Haunting of Hill House, and some completely different Henry James tales knowledgeable Bly Manor. So what could be the subsequent “right piece of IP”? Something from the Brontë sisters, like Jane Eyre or Wuthering Heights, would undoubtedly be in his wheelhouse. Flanagan, who directed Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game, can be a widely known Stephen King fan, in order that’s one other potential Haunting supply (regardless that King’s best-known works have already been tailored… and various have even been tailored once more). But we need to hear from you: if you had your decide of the library cabinets, what Haunting title would you most like to see Flanagan sort out subsequent? Sound off within the feedback under!
