Nintendo raised its annual revenue forecast by 18 p.c on Tuesday as a softer yen helped the Japanese videogame maker offset slower-than-expected Switch console gross sales. The firm, which earns about 80 p.c of its revenues abroad, expects its web revenue to return to JPY 400 billion (roughly Rs. 22,200 crore) for the 12 months to March 2023, up from the earlier forecast of JPY 340 billion (roughly Rs. 18,900 crore).
The new projection nonetheless falls wanting the consensus forecast of a JPY 463 billion (roughly Rs. 25,800 crore) revenue, based mostly on a Refinitiv ballot of 21 analysts.
The creator of such blockbuster titles as Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda lower its Switch console gross sales forecast for the enterprise 12 months to 19 million items from 21 million.
Nintendo modified its assumption for the dollar-yen charge to 135 from 115 to mirror the sharp depreciation of the Japanese forex this 12 months.
Nintendo bought 6.68 million items of its Switch console within the six months to September 30, down from 8.28 million a 12 months earlier. The console is in its sixth 12 months available on the market.
