The three rings gifted to the Elves are the one rings we truly know of by particular names: Narya, Nenya, and Vilya. Narya, the ring of fireside, was gifted to Círdan, the lord of the Grey Havens, the port metropolis that many Elves departed from Middle-earth to the Undying Lands. It’s fitting, then, that amongst its magical skills had been its powers to stave off the weariness of age, in addition to encourage hope in folks across the ringbearer—and even perhaps extra becoming then that Círdan ultimately gifted the ring to Gandalf, recognizing that the wizard was truly one of many angelic Maiar, believing it higher in his fingers for the trials the world was about to face.

Nenya, the ring of water, was gifted to Lady Galadriel, who bore it to safeguard the forests of Lórien from incursion. While by no means explicitly specified, the ring—described as gleaming like a star so vivid that solely different ringbearers may see its true nature—was mentioned to have powers of safety that sustained the forests round Lothlórien, conserving as a lot of the forces of darkness out as attainable.

Lastly, Vilya, the ring of air, was gifted to Gil-Galad, the High King of the Ñoldor Elves. The most magically highly effective of the three Elven rings, Vilya’s particular powers had been unknown, past that Celebrimbor himself specified that every one three rings had therapeutic and preservative powers, not like the opposite rings of energy. After Gil-Galad died on the foot of Mount Doom within the Battle of the Last Alliance within the Second Age’s climax, Vilya was inherited by Elrond of Rivendell, who wore the ring till he handed into the Undying Lands on the finish of the Third Age.
