Halloween Kills arrives on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD tomorrow—and we’ve received a peek at one of many bonus options. All instructed, the discharge consists of the unique theatrical model of the movie in addition to an prolonged reduce with an alternate ending—plus prolonged and deleted scenes, a gag reel, and behind-the-scenes footage.

The clip io9 has at the moment is from the latter: an up-close take a look at Michael Myers’ masks in Halloween Kills, which was exactly modeled on the masks worn in John Carpenter’s 1978 unique (which was, famously, a William Shatner masks painted an eerily clean white). As the film’s make-up FX designer Christoper Nelson explains, “It’s just like an old-fashioned latex Halloween mask,” albeit one with excessive care paid to the tiny particulars that make it distinctive, as you’ll be able to see within the video under:

“For 40 years we’ve been dissecting this mask,” Nelson says, including that even the matted wig hair connected to the masks received its personal terribly cautious remedy. “Some people were like, ‘Chris, there’s like a piece of hair swirl sticking up there, could you mat that [down]?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, no, no. That has to be there. If it’s not there, it’s not the ‘78 Shape.’”

The accuracy was particularly essential, after all, since Halloween Kills—which leans closely into themes of how trauma prior to now influences conduct within the current—truly consists of flashbacks to 1978, providing new views on the fateful October 31 night time when Michael, aka the Shape, first menaced Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her associates. Halloween Kills is at the moment out on digital and hits 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD tomorrow; the ultimate chapter in director David Gordon Green’s reboot-sequel trilogy, Halloween Ends, will arrive this October 14.
