Google to Face Lawsuit Over Digital Ads by US Justice Department: Report

The US Justice Department is readying a second monopoly lawsuit towards Alphabet-owned Google over the Internet search large’s digital promoting enterprise, Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday, citing an individual aware of the matter.

The Justice Department sued Google in October, accusing the $1 trillion (roughly Rs. 73,06,040 crores) firm of illegally utilizing its market muscle to hobble rivals. A trial was set for September 2023.

A Justice Department spokeswoman declined to remark.

Asked about the report, Google responded in an e-mail that its “advertising technologies help websites and apps fund their content, enable small businesses to grow, and protect users from exploitative privacy practices and bad ad experiences.”

A lawsuit by 38 US states and territories accuses Google of abusing its market energy in an effort to make its search engine as dominant inside vehicles, TVs and audio system as it’s in telephones. This was consolidated with the federal lawsuit for functions of discovery.

Texas, backed by different states, filed a separate lawsuit towards Google, accusing it of breaking antitrust regulation in the way it runs its internet marketing enterprise.

Reuters reported in March that Google’s plan to dam a well-liked Web monitoring device known as “cookies” issues US Justice Department investigators who’ve been asking advert trade executives whether or not that may hobble smaller rivals, citing folks aware of the scenario.
