Alphabet’s Google advised its workers they might lose pay and finally be fired if they don’t observe its COVID-19 vaccination guidelines, CNBC reported on Tuesday, citing inner paperwork.
A memo circulated by Google’s management mentioned workers had till December 3 to declare their vaccination standing and add documentation displaying proof, or to use for a medical or non secular exemption, according to the report.
After that date, Google mentioned it will begin contacting workers who had not uploaded their standing or have been unvaccinated and people whose exemption requests weren’t permitted, CNBC reported.
Employees who haven’t complied with the vaccination guidelines by January 18 might be positioned on “paid administrative leave” for 30 days, CNBC reported, adopted by “unpaid personal leave” for as much as six months and termination.
When contacted by Reuters, Google didn’t instantly touch upon the CNBC report, however mentioned, “we’re committed to doing everything possible to help our employees who can get vaccinated do so, and firmly stand behind our vaccination policy.”
Earlier this month, Google delayed its return-to-office plan indefinitely amid Omicron variant fears and a few resistance from its workers to company-mandated vaccinations. It earlier anticipated employees to return to workplace for about three days every week from January 10.
