One of the issues that builders are demanding from Apple is that the corporate enable them to make use of different fee platforms. This would enable them to promote their apps and in-app purchases with out having to provide a large 30% reduce to Apple. For builders that generate thousands and thousands in income, this 30% is a big sum of cash.
However, Apple has largely resisted the concept. The firm even managed to win a keep of their case towards Epic which meant that they might not need to implement adjustments to the App Store for now. That being mentioned, that doesn’t look like the case over within the Netherlands the place Dutch regulators are actually forcing Apple to permit third-party funds.
This is in keeping with a report from iCulture who found that Dutch regulators are saying that Apple might want to enable third-party funds within the App Store or threat paying 5 million euros every week in fines. However, what’s odd about that is that this requirement is just for relationship apps comparable to Tinder.
We’re undecided why the main focus is on relationship apps and never different apps within the App Store. Perhaps builders of relationship apps have stronger lobbying within the Netherlands and managed to make this request, however we suppose it’s higher than nothing and will assist set up precedent.
