Spain’s competitors watchdog CNMC is investigating potential anti-competitive practices in Spain by Apple and Amazon concerning on-line gross sales of digital merchandise.
The CNMC stated in a press release on Thursday that it had opened disciplinary proceedings over potential illegal conduct by each firms that would come with potential restrictions on the Amazon web site in Spain.
“(Restrictions) would affect the retail sale of Apple products by third parties and the advertising of competing Apple products, leading to a reduced competition in the Internet retail market for electronic products,” the CNMC stated.
In addition, they might strengthen Amazon’s place within the sector of offering advertising providers to third-party retailers by on-line platforms in Spain.
Amazon stated in a press release it was absolutely collaborating with the authority on this challenge, whereas Apple in Spain was not instantly obtainable to remark.
