The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is investigating how Amazon dealt with worker disclosures on the usage of third-party sellers’ knowledge purportedly to spice up its personal private-label enterprise, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.
The federal regulator’s enforcement division has requested for emails and communications from a number of senior Amazon executives, in response to the report, which cited folks conversant in the matter. Amazon didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark, whereas a spokesperson for the SEC declined to touch upon the report.
Amazon has been repeatedly accused of knocking off merchandise it sells on its web site and of exploiting its huge trove of inside knowledge to advertise its personal merchandise on the expense of different sellers. The firm has denied the allegations.
Following a sequence of media stories in 2020, Amazon launched an inside investigation to evaluate whether or not its staff used sellers’ knowledge to advertise Amazon’s private-label enterprise.
