Earlier this month, Gizmodo reported on a brand new high-tech drive-through Taco Bell that the Tex-Mex chain opened in Minnesota; at “Taco Bell Defy,” you order by way of a cellular app, scan a QR code once you drive up, and have your meals delivered by way of a sequence of tubes, by no means interacting with one other human being. But that isn’t the primary time the restaurant chain pushed the envelope, for higher or for worse—the corporate’s slogan was actually “think outside the bun” till 2012.
